The Spirit Seeds Book 1 Reviews

  • "The Spirit Seeds is a Fruit of the Spirit inspired fairy tale written and illustrated in a graphic novel format! It follows Lacey, a spoiled young girl who wakes up in a strange place and is set out on a journey to find each of the Spirit Seeds so that she can make it home. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed both books, and I look forward to reading more in the future! The series is engaging and seems to be aimed at a middle grade audience but would be enjoyable for all ages! It reminds me a bit of Alice in Wonderland, but with the lesson of needing the Fruits of The Spirit present in one's life. I also really like the slow addition of color into the otherwise grayscale story as Lacey finds each Spirit Seed! Such a fun idea! Miranda is such a talented author and artist, and I can't wait to read more and see what happens next!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • ”The trailer for this tale says that readers will suffer a side effect of "obsessing over the story," and I can certainly testify to that! By page three, I was deeply engrossed in the telling, and I didn't stop reading until I'd completed the book. And then I read it a second time the next day. Then I reread my favorite parts a few days later. Even though Lacey was spoiled and frequently got on my nerves, I did enjoy following her on her journey and meeting the anthropomorphic creatures that inhabited Lacey's world. When I first started the feature, I got a strong Alice in Wonderland vibe, but as the accounting progressed, the author put her own personal stamp on every page, leaving me breathless and full of wonder and awe. Markley even managed to make me sympathize with the protagonist at the end of the narrative. Aside from Lacey, I really liked the cook, Ms. Hen, and the questionable Jardin brothers, while my favorite character to admire was the beautifully-drawn feline, Mensonge Voleur, the estate steward.” ... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • "I love the art!! I read most of it, and what I love especially is that it's mainly in black and white, with little color accents to make certain story elements stand out more, such as the seeds being multi colored. The art is well done, and right when I was thinking about some of the characters' names, most of them were introduced! The pacing is nice, not too slow, I think this works rather well for a YA book. I'm going to buy a few copies in the future so I can donate them to my local libraries. I've worked with Miranda on a few projects, and I want to commend her for not only her artwork, but her storytelling as well. I look forward to the second book!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
